The Church and the Alien Issue

Vatican Museums, Vatican City

Vatican City in Rome, Italy

When the Western Roman Empire collapsed, it was the Catholic Church that kept learning alive in the European dark ages. The average European did not start a new age of learning until the period known as the Renaissance Age. Six Hundred years ago, the Catholic Church was accused of interfering with the progress of science and free speech. Columbus was accused of witch craft because he recorded UFOs in the new world. Scientist had to deny discoveries and theories because of threats by the church. Now the Catholic Church wants to take the lead again as it did in the European Dark Ages.

UFO & The Catholic Church Investigates Existence of Aliens

Father Fune of the Catholic Church seems to take the lead voice when it comes to Alien investigation. He says that the discovery of Aliens does not limit faith. This comes after years of denial and church attacks on anyone who even discussed the idea that other intelligent beings exist. In 2008, the Catholic Church headed a conference on Alien life. That is something that even the western governments have not done.

VATICANO - CORRADO BALDUCCI & OVNIS

"To be so skeptical is against normal common sense, its against reason.""...we listen to people, we have to have faith that what they are saying is true."

"God in his wisdom wouldn't have created only us as humans."

"There are already hundreds of thousands of eye witnesses in the world that state to have seen UFO's at least once."

"A totally sceptic behaviour is not justified at all, because a priori seems to be against to the elemental prudence suggested by the good sense."

"The most severe and hard criticism could reduce largely this number of testimonies, but never will be able to eliminate all of them."

"It is not any longer a secret the existence of the so called Area 51, SEPRA, CUN, CIFAS".

"A generalised, systematic and total incredulity finally would weaken and destroy the value of human testimony, with serious and unforeseeable consequences, because that is the base of life not only individual and social, but also religious."

------------

Balducci says, "UFOs exist, there's no question about that; nobody can deny it any more."

"The basis for this is simply widespread eyewitness human testimony. We dare not question human testimony too much, says Balducci; otherwise we will question the testimony of Christ's existence."

" The approach that I have taken to UFOs and Christianity is this: we need to wonder a lot more, and not shut ourselves off from possibilities. I applaud Monsignor Balducci for coming to the conclusion that UFOs are real. In light of the fact that Pope John Paul II apologized in 1992 for the way the Roman Catholic Church treated Galileo, I know there is Catholic hope that the church will give science the freedom to do its work without worrying that the faith will be jeopardized by scientific discovery. But my own view is that faith without risk is not faith. I do not think we can hide our faith in a safe place. In the parable of the sower, Jesus made it clear that when a farmer sows, he takes risks: that the birds will eat some of the seed, that some seed will fall on rocky ground, that weeds will choke out some seed. Whether it be stock market investments or marriage, we are all in favor of risk reduction. But serious faith can never be risk free", quote by a church official.

" I do not think we need any ideological separation between religion and UFOs at this time. Such an ideology only gets in the way of truly open research. We need to believe that research and patience including perhaps waiting for the UFO reality to choose to reveal its nature more clearly to us will lead ultimately to the truth. And we do not need insulation to protect us from the truth, either from the point of view of science or religion", an official view of the Catholic Church.

"A statement from the Reverend Jose Gabriel Funes gives full approval for a Catholic to believe in aliens. Funes is the top astronomer at the Vatican, and he says that the great vastness of the universe certainly makes it possible that beings other than man may exist. The main gist of the statement is that this "belief" does not constitute a contradiction with one's faith in God, or the Catholic Church doctrine. We can certainly take this a step further with no problem, and say that anyone who believes in God, can also possess this belief, and not be hypocritical. This has been a point of contention for many years among some Christians, who assert that since the Bible only mentions mankind as existing on planet Earth, it precludes the existence of life elsewhere. It has often been discussed among Ufologists, UFO students, and skeptics. What do you think? Does a faith in God, and the Bible make it impossible for you to also believe in alien life? Is it a contradiction of your religious belief? "

Billy Booth has been a UFO researcher and writer for over 30 years. In his Blog “About.com” he said “From an article in the Vatican newspaper comes a statement from the Reverend Jose Gabriel Funes. This statement gives full approval for a Catholic to believe in aliens. Funes is the top astronomer at the Vatican, and he says that the great vastness of the universe certainly makes it possible that beings other than man may exist. This comes as no surprise, really, as other spokesmen for the Church have made similar statements before.”

Father Funes says he is not sure if other forms of life would be more or less intelligent than humans, but he is convinced that the existence of Aliens is not a contradiction with the Catholic faith. There has been no word from top Vatican officials about Funes' comments, but some people on the street find them odd.

( Italian / English subs ). The Vatican's chief Demonologist, Corrado Balducci discusses the existence of Aliens. One common person on the street said, “If a respectable man like that can say this then why cant the pope...i mean the pope has enough trouble approving the use of condoms...so we could still be waiting a while.”

The Pope's Astronomer, Doctor Guy Consolmagno, said today that it is most likely that aliens exist and that they would most certainly have souls.

View of Darnell L Williams; "The Bible is not a History Book. The Bible gives statements of fact. It does not always give statements of truth. Job said that the Lord gave it and the Lord took it away. When in fact, it was not the Lord at all that took Job's things but Satan took them away. The Lord allowed this to happen. But this statement is in the Bible. This is an example of Bible fact but not Bible truth! Aliens are talked about in the Bible but the Bible does not say that they are Aliens. The Church is now coming around and admitting that this is the case."
